He endures a porcupine attack, a tornado and being utterly alone for almost two months. This is a tale of adventure but,  it is also a tale of character growth. You could use this book when teaching about characters. For example, round or flat.

It works and the men do not eat him. Unfortunately, Charlotte dies but hatches eggs so that Wilbur will still have friends. This book could be used when introducing popular literature.

Crickwing is constantly thwarted by lizards, ocelots and food-stealing monkeys. As he watches thousands of busy leaf-cutting ants, he wonders why isnt anyone bothering these little bullies. Thus, a bully is born. Crickwing harasses the ants until their Queen orders him to be captured and offered as a sacrifice to the army ants. Luckily, kind leaf-cutters set him free, and he redeems himself by using his special talents to rid the leaf-cutters of the army ants once and for all. Cannon's illustrations are lush and invigorating, guaranteed to enrapture the most reluctant reader. This would be great to introduce bullying prevention. Teaching the students that bullying is not good. You could incorporate this book into almost any lesson.

She then realizes that her mother's death is what has made him this way. This is a very creatively created book. It shows the love that Lizzie has for her father.This would be a great story to tell around Father's Day.

This teaches the students to never give up on their dreams.

However, he decided to give them back to the television show that gave him them because the penguins had began getting tired from all the traveling. This teaches the students to be careful what you wish for.

I absolutely fell in love with this story. It is a must read. It tells the story of a bi-racial couple living in the deep south. Their children are mixed so they are treated differently because of this. The main character, Staggerlee, is one of their daughters who does not know who she really is. The father's family abandoned him after marrying a white woman. However, After a death in the family his sister contacts him. Meanwhile, Staggerlee kissed a girl at school and is confused more than ever on how she feels. Her father's sister then sends her daughter to stay with him because the daughter has been misbehaving. The daughter and Staggerlee become very close and Staggerlee begins to have feelings for this girl. At the end of the summer the girl leaves and doesn't talk to Staggerlee for a while. Months later Staggerlee gets a letter that she had changed. That the girl had a boyfriend now and decided to change her name so that it is now more feminine. Staggerlee was very shocked and disappointed. However, Staggerlee then saw the changes she had made herself and realized that sometimes change is a good thing. I would use this to introduce how sometimes being different is okay.

So the tables had turned. Gilbert then told his that there was no ghost. This should teach the students not to bully and not to make fun of others.

However, in bed the children feel the fur on his tail and his sharp claws. At once one of the children lit a light and saw that the wolf was not grandma. The children then tricked the wolf to climb into a basket and said that they would pull him up to get food. The children then pulled him almost up and then dropped him so that he would die from his injuries. The mother arrived home and the children then had a story to tell her. This would teach the children that sometimes bad things happen to good people.

At the end of the story her grandmother dies, but only after Sarah shows her how to write her name for the first time. This book would show the students how lucky they are to have such simple things such as schooling.

Piggy then realizes that she should not have to hurt people to be cool. This will teach the students to do what they know they should do, rather than listening to someone else.
